'Historic Chearsley' Exhibition - Sunday 2nd June
Chearsley
The Historic Chearsley exhibition, sponsored by the Parish Council, took place at the Village Hall on Sunday and attracted great local interest, with an estimated 100 visitors during the day.
A focal point of the exhibition were 12 photographic boards featuring a fascinating range of photographs and information from Ted Hooton’s book ‘Chearsley – Living Through History’ – a copy of which can be downloaded from the Chearsley BlogSpot home page. Many members of the community also contributed a wide range of photographs and other memorabilia.
A special presentation was made to Ann Hooton, wife of Ted, in recognition of all the wonderful support given to the community of Chearsley by Ted and herself in the years they lived in the village. Ann was also editor of the Chearsley News for ten years from the mid-1980s to mid-1990s
Councillor John Howard outlined some of the projects being worked on for the Historic Chearsley programme including ‘Chearsley at War’, ‘Chearsley 2020’, ‘St Nicholas Church Revisited’, a ‘Chearsley Pub Revival’ day and a ‘Chearsley School Reunion’.
Anyone interested in helping or working with the ‘Historic Chearsley’ programme or with ideas for new projects should contact one of the ‘Historic Chearsley’ group members.
