Membership & Governance

Membership

Since its inception in 2019, the Society has relied on voluntary donations and grant support to meet its incidental expenses.  Despite the generosity of our members and donors in supporting this approach, it has become clear that it's not a suitable way to fund the society for the future as we embark on a more ambitious programme of activities.

Charges

The following modest membership rates are therefore being introduced for 2024:

Standard membership:   £10 per household per calendar year

Occasional visitor:            £3 per person per meeting

At some outdoor events, e.g. ‘The Chearsley Pub Revival Day’, we may need to make a further charge to cover additional costs incurred in running the event.

CVHS will of course be grateful for any additional donations to help ensure a programme of continued high quality of events.

Membership List

In additional to providing essential finance for the Society, a fully paid up Membership List will be essential if and when we come to apply for grants for larger project.

To join the Society please complete a Membership Application Form.  Full payment details are provided on the form.

Steering Group

The Society is organised by a small Steering Group of enthusiasts who are keen to hear the thoughts of other members on how we might further develop the Society. Please send us your thoughts and idea at: cvhssg@chearsley.com) or speak to any member of the Steering Group.

The Steering Group members are:

   John Howard - Founder

   Derek Allen

   Julia Thomas

   Karen Vear

   Graham Barry

   David Impey

   John Lewis

Governance & Constitution

We have a Governance document, Living History, that describes how we operate and organise.

We will develop a formal Constitution that lays down the 'rules' that we will follow.  This may be required when we come to apply for grants to assist with our activities
