Councillor Recruitment

We Urgently Need Two More Parish Councillors

Following the recent sad loss of Keith Turnbull and unfortunate resignation of Ian Houseman for health reasons, your Parish Council is now reduced from 7 to 5 Councillors.
That's a big loss of skills, effort and ideas which is impacting the work we can do to keep the village an attractive place to live.

So we need to find replacements and are asking everyone to seriously consider -  ‘could I contribute’.

There are of course a hundred reasons we can all find for NOT coming forward.  It’s easy to simply ignore this and leave it to someone else.
We are asking you though not to do that and to think instead – is there a way I COULD do it.

Qualifications?

  • A pride in our village and desire to see it retained as an attractive place to live
  • Positive ideas and opinions to bring to discussions
  • Initiative to get on and do what needs doing
  • A willingness to give up a little time to help look after the village
  • Satisfaction from being part of a team that is well respected both within the village and amongst members of the wider Buckinghamshire Council

What you DON’T need is to know how to be a Councillor or how Parish Councils work.  That’s easy to pick up and there’s lots of help at hand from experienced Councillors, many optional short courses available (at Council expense) and lots of other information.

This is also a perfect opportunity to try out being a Parish Councillor without long term commitment.  Elections to all Parish Councils in Bucks are scheduled for May 2025 so all existing appointments cease then and all places come up for re-election.
